"SS" Preamps / Re: SS 20 control out connector
« Last post by Alexander AMTsupport on March 14, 2016, 04:49:22 am »
Hello,

I own the ss20 with a CP100 since two month and i would like to ask some questions about the control out port of the SS20:
- is this control out port a 3.5mm stereo (tip/ring/sleeve) type connector?
- Is this connector sending out signal or just connecting the tip or the ring or both to the sleeve?
- is this switching isolated from the pedal circuit? what are the electrical maximums for voltage and current?

I ask these as i would like to use it for switching my old GT10 or my amp using this pedal. and the SS20 manual is not referring to this connector ( I found some mentioning in the manual of the FS2M)

This output is intended for use with out FS2midi (see manuals for SS30). You choose some channel and this output gives the info about it to FS2midi and it sends Midi command to some external Midi device. It is an opto isolated output (TLV826)

"SS" Preamps / Re: What guitar speakers you use with SS-20 for gig or rehearse?

Well, this seems to be a ghost forum. Anyway,  I decided to post an update here, I finally got a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe iii 1x12 cab, I plugged it to my ISP Stealth power amp yesterday and finally a have my rig complete. So I guess I have to use it for a while and wait for the speaker to break in (and put new strings in my guitar) but for now clean and overdrive are good, the Stealth can drive it loud enough with just one single channel so I have plenty of power for this now or in the future maybe a second cab for stereo or a 4x12 if I ever get the chance to use one. I will try to use this in rehearsal with my friends soon and see how it goes.

Great, thanks a lot for the info!

Hello there, AMT-Team!

First of all thanks for the Pangaea 2.0 update - unfortunately there´s no english information on your site or in the handbook what to do with the firmware.
After being a little puzzled I made a guess and just copied the file into the Pangaeas root-directory. Low and behold it updated flawlessly after disconnecting from the PC and connecting to the power supply. It´s nice that it works so easy but nonetheless: a little hint would have been nice.

On a different note: the Pangaea CP-100 comes with a 12V power supply. If I could use 9V things would be easier with my pedalboard, so I gave it a try and the CP-100 started up and worked seemingly perfect with a 9V/200mA supply. Is there any downside to doing this (e.g. less headroom, more noise or the danger of the unit switching off mid gig?)

Thanks for your help in advance!

Hello, you can use it with a 9VDC power supply
We will place English upgrade instruction

"SS" Preamps / What guitar speakers you use with SS-20 for gig or rehearse?

Ok, my first post in the forum and first in the preamp section :)

I have the SS-20 for a year so far and been playing only thru mixer + PA with my friends band or for home recording, still trying to buy a cab this christmas :) The clean channel is really clean, my strat single coils do sound twangy and imho I think it can do kind of the Eric Johnson clean sound . The crunch has a nice range from mild to strong overdrive that sounds great for electric blues or classic rock, lead is metal. So I know there is no single speaker that can do the best for every genre and I wonder which guitar speakers are you using out there and what kind guitar speaker you use with the SS-20 for your prefered music genre. Sound samples or youtube videos would be great.

Nice! What kind of cab or speaker you use for that pedal?
